My father is leaving for San Diego tomorrow, working for the Office of Naval Research, and will be staying at the Officer's Quarters. We are going to miss him so much! Claudia received her first family hug because every one was hugging Daddy. Claudia will be very grown up by the next time Dad sees her, almost a lady. ;)
Despite all this depression, we have hope. Grandma is coming tomorrow and then off we are to COLORADO!! Colorado sounds like sooo much fun. And although we are sad, now is not the time for moping but for sheer joy in the fact that while some families are separated, others are created.
So today, when the MacDonalds say farewell to their father for a month, they are about to embark on a new journey, full of new things to do.
HERE WE COME COLORADO!!

Ahhh. My first day in San Diego. I am working for the Office of Naval Research and living in the Officer's Quarters in the Point Loma Naval Base. From my parking lot, I look out upon the San Diego bay and see downtown San Diego. Spectacular!
I'm working with a very cool group researching and developing a magnetometer. Not exactly sure what that is yet, but I'm been tasked with designing a chip to control it. Aye Aye Captain! (Actually all the researchers that I am working with are civilians PhDs - extreme nerd coolness).
The weather is gray but delightfully cool - never exceeding 60 degrees. Nice...
I hope to be spending many future summers here...
